East Central Youth Violence

Our work in East Central Bristol began with identifying the barriers that have held back progress in tackling serious youth violence. This insight shaped our approach and the initiatives we developed to drive meaningful change. designed to break down silos, empower young people, and strengthen local responses to violence.

East Central Youth Violence Commission 

Identifying a disparity between strategic spaces/decision making and the lived realities of the young people we work with and community context, we decided to develop the East Central Youth Violence Commission that is shaped by grassroots and Black By and for organisations to develop strategy and practice we feel better reflect the needs of our young people and community.

East Central Youth Violence Community of Practice

The East Central Youth Violence Community of Practice connects local practitioners to share updates, best practice, and build stronger relationships. It was created to overcome siloed working, improve collaboration, and reduce competition that often hinders collective impact.

ECYV Practitioner Training 

Young people, parents, and practitioners have all highlighted inconsistent support as a major issue. To tackle this, and ensure high-quality, consistent practice, we’ve partnered with Solve: Centre for Youth Violence & Conflict to provide free training for local practitioners.

Recent and upcoming sessions include:

  • Principles of ‘On Road’ Youth Work

  • Tipping Point: Supporting Young People to Exit 'Gangs'

  • Safeguarding Young People at Risk of Extra-Familial Harm

  • Murder Media: Social Media, Music & Violence 

This training strengthens frontline practice and creates a shared standard of support for young people in our community.

Empowering Futures Job Club 

Empowering Futures Job Club supports young people in East Bristol to move into education, training, and employment, key pathways for reducing serious youth violence. Through tailored guidance, practical workshops, and one-to-one support, we build confidence, develop skills, and open doors to opportunities that offer safer and brighter futures.
