Experience Mwanzo Project CIC
We believe that all young people should have the opportunity to learn, grow, discover their passions, and thrive to build brighter futures.
Mwanzo Project is a Black Led Grassroots Community Interest Company founded in response to the gap in provision for children and young people who are at risk/involved in offending, exploitation and street conflict.

We recognise the racial disproportionality within our Criminal Legal System, the over- criminalisation, institutional and structural racism experienced by Black and racially minoritised young people and are committed to use our expertise and skills to offer bespoke support to those most marginalised by wider society.
Mwanzo Project seeks to create opportunities for young people to engage in support that is accessible to them, provide them with opportunities to build relationships with mentors and role-models who they can relate to and unlock their potential.
Get to Know Us
At Mwanzo Project CIC, we believe that all young people should have the opportunity to learn, grow, discover their passions, and thrive to build brighter futures.
Our Mission is to provide young people with bespoke support and access to new opportunities to make positive life changes, achieve their goals and fulfil their potential
The Call In and The Reach Out Programme focuses primarily on Black and racially minoritised young people, using findings from research highlighting the barriers to diversions for this group to inform our delivery; carefully tailoring interventions that meet the cultural needs of our cohorts and reducing the criminalisation of young people.
We are committed to providing an alternative to offending and violence by offering access to new opportunities, learning and growth as well as education, employment and training information, advice and support.
We know that young people with histories of involvement in drug related crime and street conflict are often not often treated by society with compassion or empathy, especially if the young person is Black and racially minoritised.
Mwanzo Project uses a holistic approach to seek to understand the complex needs and lives of each individual young person. All staff are trained in psychologically and trauma-informed approaches; equipped with the language and skills to empower young people to feel able to speak about their experiences and to support them around their wellbeing.
We draw on community knowledge and expertise, commissioning grass-roots, culturally-specific services to meet the needs of our young people, who often experience barriers to engaging with mainstream services and are seldom heard
